Guirar Makeover, pt. 5 and end.

Here's the guitar in before and after poses:

It's mostly finished.

I have to reset the neck to adjust the action from the 12th fret up. I guess I'll just try to force a shim under it with the screws loosened. That way, I can actually observe the strings as the adjustment is made.

The veneer on the headstock started lifting from the wood, so I had my son just remove it, and I painted it with the same color as the body. A quick coat of polyurethane for shine and it turned out pretty well.

I ended up taking it to a luthier to do the wiring for me which really cut into the savings I was attempting to achieve. But when I wired it myself, it didn't turn out so good. So, for the time being, guess I'll just stick to simple wiring situations before trying to take on the whole taco.

It has been an interesting experience, and the 'new' guitar sounds really hot. Especially when played through my new Vox Valvetronix amplifier.

This was a great project to do this winter, and maybe I'll try it again in the future.
